Narcissa Balta

Narcissa Balta is an economist in the Debt Policy Division of the IMF's Strategy, Policy, and Review Department. Her work focuses on debt sustainability frameworks for advanced economies and sovereign debt crisis resolution problems. Prior to the IMF, Narcissa was Deputy Head of Unit Macroeconomy of the Euro Area at the European Commission, Directorate General for Economic and Financial Affairs, which she joined in 2008. Much of her work covered issues related to the euro area financial and sovereign debt crises, and the economic adjustment programme for Portugal. Narcissa has also been part of the research team of Bruegel, the Brussels-based economic think tank, between 2005-08.
