Nicolas Ziebarth is an Associate Professor at the Cornell College of Human Ecology. He international expert on the economics of sick leave. He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles on paid sick leave in the US and Europe. More generally, Dr. Ziebarth studies the interaction of social security systems with labor markets and population health. Another focus of his work is the driving forces and implications of risky health behavior such as smoking, drinking, or overeating. Since 2010, research co-authored by Dr. Ziebarth has won ten best paper awards. His PhD thesis on "Sickness Absence and Economic Incentives" was awarded the Upjohn Institute Dissertation Award 2011.
