Nobuaki Hamaguchi

Nobuaki Hamaguchi is a Faculty Fellow at the Research Institute of Economy, Trade and Industry (RIETI) and a Professor at the Research Institute for Economics and Business Administration, Kobe University. He received his Ph.D. in Regional Science in 1995 from the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to his current position, he was a Visiting Researcher at the Institute of Economics, Rio de Janeiro Federal University (2000-2003) and a Researcher at the Institute of Developing Economies (current Institute of Developing Economics, Japan External Trade Organization (IDE-JETRO)). His research interests focus on spatial economics and regional studies (Brazil). He has published numerous papers in academic journals and books on these topics including The Annals of Regional Science and Regional Science and Urban Economics. He is the Program Director of the Regional Economies Research Program at RIETI. He is also a member of the Science Council of Japan, Applied Regional Science Conference, Regional Science Association International, and Japan Association of Social Science on Latin America.
