Paul Atkinson

Senior Research Fellow, Groupe d’Economie Mondiale at Sciences Po Paris

Paul Atkinson held a number of positions at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) for most of the period between 1981 and 2005, after which he affiliated with the Groupe d’Economie Mondiale. He worked primarily on macroeconomic policy issues, serving in various capacities including Secretary to the Group of 10 for 5 years and Editor of OECD Economic Outlook for eight years. In 2001 he became Deputy Director for OECD work on Science, Technology and Industry policy, overseeing analysis of enterprise issues, notably regarding SMEs. Outside the OECD during the 1980s, Mr. Atkinson worked on macroeconomic policies and structural reform issues at the New Zealand Treasury in Wellington and spent two years at the Institute of International Finance in Washington D.C.
