Philip Schellekens

Senior Economist in the Global Practice for Macroeconomics and Fiscal Management at The World Bank

Philip Schellekens works at the World Bank as Senior Economist in the Global Practice for Macroeconomics and Fiscal Management. As Country Economist for Brazil, China and Malaysia, his work has focused on the growth challenges facing middle-income countries. Prior to this, he was with the International Monetary Fund, where he served in the Asia and Pacific, Monetary and Capital Markets, and European Departments and held positions on emerging Europe, Hong Kong, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Lebanon, and South Africa. He conducted research at the Bank of England and the Financial Markets Group, taught economics and finance at LSE, University of Antwerp and Venice International University, and held visiting research positions at Harvard and MIT. He obtained a Ph.D. in Economics from the London School of Economics.
