Pieter Gautier is professor of economics at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and the Tinbergen Institute. Previously he was associate professor at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. His research is mainly on search theory. His work has been published in the American Economic Review, the Review of Economic Studies, Journal of the European Economic Association, Journal of Labor Economics, Journal of Economic Theory and the Review of Economics and Statistics. He is cofounder of the European Search and Matching research group (SAM). He obtained his Ph.D. in economics in 1997 at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and he is CEPR, IZA, and Tinbergen fellow.
