Pietro Saggese

Scientist at Austrian Institute of Technology, Postdoctoral researcher at Complexity Science Hub Vienna

Pietro Saggese is a Postdoctoral scientist at the Complexity Science Hub (CSH) Vienna, in a joint program with the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT) since May 2021. He obtained his PhD from the Economics and Data Science department at the IMT School for Advanced Studies in Lucca, Italy. During his Ph.D. studies, he focused on identifying arbitrage activity within the Bitcoin eco-system, and he investigated the characteristics of the investors who conducted it. In his current research, Pietro is analyzing the interplay between traditional finance and Decen-tralized Finance (DeFi) to gain insights into potential risks and associated opportunities. He is also interested in the impact and adoption of central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) on the economy.
