Ralf Fendel studied economics at the University of Mainz. In 1998 he received his Ph.D. in economics from the WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management. During his Ph.D. studies he was also a scholar at the London School of Economics (UK) and the Georgetown University in Washington, DC (USA). After finishing his Ph.D., he joined the Deutsche Bundesbank in Frankfurt from 1998 through to 2000. From 2001 to 2007, Ralf Fendel was assistant professor of economics at the WHU. From 2007 to 2008 he held a professorship at the European Business School (EBS). Since 2008 he is a full professor of Monetary Economics at the WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management. His areas of research are monetary theory and policy as well as international monetary economics and European Integration.
