Dr Ricardo Alonso joined the LSE in 2014 as an Associate Professor of Management. He earned a PhD in Managerial Economics and Strategy from the Kellogg School of Management in 2007, and prior to joining LSE was an Assistant Professor of Finance and Business Economics at the University of Southern California. Before earning his PhD, Ricardo worked in the Telecommunications industry, serving in management positions at Telefonica in Europe and the United States. After receiving his MS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Universidad Politecnica Madrid, he was initially engaged in the design and planning of telecommunication networks in Spain and Europe for Telefonica. He later transitioned into management positions were he took part in the launch of “greenfield" operators in Central America and e-commerce platforms in the US. Ricardo studies the economics of organizations, with an emphasis on information and incentives. His research has been published in the American Economic Review, the Review of Economic Studies, AEJ- Microeconomics, Journal of European Economic Association and the RAND Journal of Economics.
