Richard Townsend

Assistant Professor of Finance at University of California, San Diego

Richard Townsend is an Assistant Professor of Finance at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) in the Rady School of Management. His research focuses on entrepreneurial finance, innovation, and behavioral finance. He received his B.A. from Stanford University in 2005 and his Ph.D. from Harvard University in 2011. Prior to joining UCSD, Townsend was an Assistant Professor at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. Professor Townsend is a recipient of the Kauffman Foundation Junior Faculty Fellowship for entrepreneurship research, and his research has been awarded the Journal of Financial Economics Jensen Prize and the AQR Insight Award.
