Rikard Eriksson

Professor of Economic Geography at Umeå University

Rikard Eriksson is full Professor of Economic Geography at Umeå University in Sweden. He has been a Visiting Scholar at London School of Economics, Copenhagen University, University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and University of Bern. Since graduation in 2009 his research has evolved around topics like regional economic transformation, regional growth and inequality, agglomeration economies and the evolving geography of work and employment. Using matched employer-employee data, his current research focuses on the individual and regional consequences of mass-layoffs in relation to plant closures, and the role of social networks for labour market matching and regional learning processes.
