Ryuhei Wakasugi

Ryuhei Wakasugi is a Professor Emeritus at Kyoto University, Professor of International Economics at University of Niigata Prefecture, and Senior Research Adviser and Program Director at the Research Institute of Economy, Trade and Industry (RIETI). He has taught at Gakushuin University, Kyoto University, Keio University, and Yokohama National University, after receiving his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Tokyo. He served as a Director at the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) and also has advised a number of government agencies on national science, technology, and industry policy, including the Council for Science and Technology Policy.The author has published numerous books and articles. His research interests include trade, foreign direct investment (FDI), economic growth, and innovation. He was Editor of Japanese Economic Review and The International Economies, Advisory Editor of Research Policy, and currently is the International Advisory Editor of Millennial Asia. He received the Kojima Kiyoshi Prize and an Award from the Japan Academy of International Business Studies.
