S. Amer Ahmed

S. Amer Ahmedis a Senior Economist in the Social Protection and Jobs Global Practice of the World Bank, where he works primarily on jobs and migration issues. He has been in the World Bank for almost a decade, working across range of topics including growth, trade, and labor issues as well as across regions, including East Asia and the Pacific, South Asia, and Sub-Saharan Africa. Previously, Amer worked in the Bank’s Development Economics Vice-Presidency,where he contributed as a chapter lead to flagship reports like the Global Monitoring Report 2015/2016 on demographic change, and the Global Economic Prospects 2015 on fiscal space. Amer’s main research interests are in the areas of trade in services, migration, and labor. He received his PhD in Agricultural Economics from Purdue University, where he specialized in international trade.
