Samantha St. Amand is a CIGI senior research associate in the Global Economy Program. She has a B.A. (honours) in economics from Wilfrid Laurier University and an M.A. in economics from the University of Waterloo. Samantha previously worked as a research assistant at the Viessmann European Research Centre in Waterloo. Samantha’s current research focuses on central bank governance and policies, including the international implications of unconventional monetary policy, the effectiveness of monetary policy at the zero lower bound, and the role of central banks in financial stability policy. Her research has been published in several academic journals, including Applied Economic Letters and Economic Notes. Other research interests include global growth and debt sustainability, the Eurozone crisis and EU economic governance.
