Sebastian Doerr is an economist in the Monetary and Economics Department at the Bank for International Settlements. His research focuses on the consequences of financial innovation for financial stability and consumer welfare, as well as on the impact of macroeconomic developments on the financial sector. He has published in leading academic journals, such as the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, and Review of Finance. Major news outlets, including The Economist, Financial Times, and Wall Street Journal, covered his work. In 2018, he received the European Economic Association’s Young Economist Award. He holds a PhD in economics from the University of Zurich.
