Şevket Pamuk is Professor of Economic History at Bogaziçi University in Istanbul. He graduated from Yale University and obtained his PhD in Economics from University of California, Berkeley. He is the author of many books and articles on Ottoman, Middle East and Turkish economic history, most recently of Uneven Centuries: Economic History of Turkey since 1820 (Princeton University Press, 2018). Pamuk was President of European Historical Economics Society and Co-Editor of European Economic History Review.
