Shafik Hebous is a deputy division chief in the IMF's Fiscal Affairs Department. Shafik has provided extensive tax policy advice in several countries in Asia, Africa, and Europe. His research is mainly in the area of public finance including topics such as wealth inequality, the taxation of multinationals, and how corporate profit shifting affects the balance of payments. Shafik was adjunct professor at Oslo Fiscal Studies at the University of Oslo and assistant professor at the Economics Department at the Goethe University Frankfurt, where he obtained his Ph.D. in Economics.
