Shunsuke Managi

Distinguished Professor of Technology and Policy and Director, Urban Institute at Kyushu University

Shunsuke Managi is the Distinguished Professor of Technology and Policy and Director of the Urban Institute at Kyushu University. He has been awarded several national research grants on topics such as urbanization, transportation, energy, climate change, sustainability, and population change. He has received several research fellowships and served as an expert on new technology, energy, and environmental policy. He is a lead author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), a coordinating lead author for the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), a director for Inclusive Wealth Report 2017 (IWR 2017), an editor of Economics of Disasters and Climate Change and Environmental Economic and Policy Studies, and on the editorial board for nine journals including Resource and Energy Economics. He is also the author of Technology, Natural Resources and Economic Growth: Improving the Environment for a Greener Future and editor of The Routledge Handbook of Environmental Economics in Asia. He co-chaired the Scientific Committee of the 2018 World Congress of Environmental and Resource Economists in Sweden.
