Thomas Horvath

Senior Economist at Austrian Institute of Economic Research

Thomas Horvath is a senior economist at the Austrian Institute of Economic Research (WIFO) where he joined the "Labour Economics, Income and Social Security" Research Group in 2010. After studying economics at the University of Vienna, he worked at the Department of Economics at the Johannes Kepler University Linz, where he received his PhD in 2015 in the field of micro-econometric labour market analysis. His research interests include changes in labour demand and supply, the evaluation of (active) labour market policies and migration. A major focus of his work is the analysis of longer-term socio-economic developments using dynamic microsimulation, e.g. the longer-term impact of demographic change on labour markets and welfare states. He is also a national expert in the skillsnet network of CEDEFOP.
