Tom is a Senior Economist and International Adviser at the Bank of England. He currently has a roving role within the Bank’s International Directorate, focused on global economic and strategic issues. Tom originally joined the Bank in 2006 after completing a BSc in Economics at Warwick and a Masters at the University of British Columbia. He spent the first five years of his Bank career forecasting UK and international economic developments for the Monetary Policy Committee. Then in 2011, Tom moved to the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office on secondment, to become their Deputy Chief Economist. While there he also served as a Technical Adviser to the United Nations. On his return to the Bank in 2013, Tom worked in the Bank’s former International Finance Division, analysing global risks to UK financial stability, before switching to his current more expansive role.
