Tobias Broer

Tobias Broer is an assistant professor at the Institute for International Economic Studies at Stockholm University, and a CEPR Research Affiliate. He holds a Ph. D. from the European University Institute, and previously worked for the Bank of England and the Central Bank of Chile. His research focuses on inequality and heterogeneity among households and individuals, and how they interact with the macroeconomy and economic policy. For example, he has studied the role of precautionary savings and endogenous household borrowing constraints for Global Imbalances, the heterogeneity of household portfolios along the US wealth distribution, and how inequality and the distribution of firm profits affect the monetary transmission mechanism. Tobias is also interested in risk-sharing in agricultural communities in developing countries, and in the effect of investor disagreement on asset prices.
