Uwe Böwer is an economist at the European Commission, DG Economic and Financial Affairs. Previously, he worked at the European Central Bank and was Visiting Scholar at UC Berkeley. He obtained his PhD in economics from the University of Munich and holds graduate degrees from University College London and the University of Munich. His research interests are in the areas of applied macroeconomics, including empirical analysis of economic growth, exchange rate misalignment and business cycle synchronisation.
