Victoria Baranov is an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Melbourne. She received her PhD in Economics from the University of Chicago after graduating from Barnard College. Her research is in the field of development economics and focuses on the role of health, particularly psychological health, in the persistence of poverty. Additionally, her research has explored the consequences of gender norms on both economic and psychological outcomes. She has an affiliation with J-PAL, the Centre for Market Design, the Life Course Centre, and the Institute of Labor Studies (IZA).
