Viv Davies

Between 2003 and 2013 Viv Davies was Chief Operating Officer at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR). Following an earlier career as a professional classical musician, Music Teacher and Concert Manager, Viv studied economics at Birkbeck College, University of London, where he was awarded the Gerstenberg Prize for Economics and the Tessa Blackstone Prize. He has advised UK government departments, including the Department for Business Innovation and Skills and the Department for International Development, and a number of UK policy research institutions on how to bring together academics and policymakers most effectively, particularly in the areas of economics and international development research. Prior to CEPR, he was Head of External Relations at the International institute for Environment and Development (IIED), an international policy research think-tank. Viv has worked in the UK non-profit sector for the last 20 years and, in the role of Trustee, has advised a number of non-profit organisations on business strategy and partnership development. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
