Willi Koll

Former Deputy General Director of the Policy Department at German Federal Ministries for Economic Affairs and Energy and of Finance

Willi Koll, born 1947, studied mathematics and economics at the Universities of Bonn and Cologne. He received his diploma in economics and his doctorate in business administration from the University of Bonn. He worked at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWI) and at the German Federal Ministry of Finance (BMF) (1977 - 2011), the last 13 years as Deputy General Director in the Policy Department. He was a member of the Economic Policy Committee of the EU and OECD and Head of the German Delegation in the Economic Development and Review Committee of the OECD (1998 - 2006). He was member of the Macroeconomic Dialogue of the EU at political level and chaired the preparatory Macroeconomic Dialogue of EU at technical level (1999 - 2006). He has taught at the University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration in Cologne and at the Free University of Berlin. He has published widely on economics and economic policy issues.
