Xuan Wang is an Assistant Professor of Finance at the Department of Finance, School of Business and Economics at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He is also a Lecturer and Research Fellow at the Tinbergen Institute. He obtained his PhD (D.Phil) in Financial Economics from the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. Before his PhD, he obtained his M.Phil in Economics from the Department of Economics, University of Oxford and worked as a full-time economist at the Bank of England.Xuan's research focuses on money, default, and financial frictions in macro-finance and international finance. His recent work studies how to improve financial stability and social welfare in a currency union that lacks a fiscal union, via bankruptcy code adjustment, shedding light on bankruptcy within a capital markets union in the Eurozone.
