Yogesh Uppal is an Associate Professor of Economics at Youngstown State University. His research focuses on issues related to public, political and development economics. His published works study the effect of politically-motivated behavior of elected officials on economic outcomes. Currently, his research examines how type of a politician affects public service provision and economic development in India. He earned his Ph.D. in economics from University of California, Irvine, M.A. in economics from Delhi School of Economics and B.A. (Honors) in economics from University of Delhi.
