Yoosik Youm

Professor of Sociology at Yonsei University

Yoosik Youm is a full professor of Sociology at Yonsei University. Prior to that, he was an assistant professor at the University of Illinos at Chicago (2000-2005). He graduated from Yonsei University (B.A., 1987; M.A, 1990) and the University of Chicago (Ph.D., 2000). He was a visiting fellow at the Research Institute of Economy, Trade and Industry (RIETI) in 2011 and 2015. During his fellowship at RIETI, he worked with Professor Kazuo Yamaguchi to examine the fertility rates and gender inequality in South Korea and Japan. His research interests focus on family dynamics and health status.
