Yukiko Abe

Professor of Economics at Hokkaido University

Yukiko Abe is a professor of Economics at Hokkaido University. Her main research area is labor economics, and her recent research focuses on the gender gap in Japan and other countries, the long-term impact of the Equal Employment Opportunity Act in Japan, and regional variations in women s labor force participation. She has published her research in Labour Economics, Contemporary Economic Policy, Journal of Housing Economics, and Journal of the Japanese and International Economies, among others. In addition, she serves as an associate editor of Japan and the World Economy.She earned a B.A. from the University of Tokyo in 1987 and a Ph.D. from Princeton University in 1994. Previously, she held teaching positions at Nagoya City University and Asia University, and was a Visiting Professor at University Lyon 2 (France).
