Yuqing Xing is a Professor of Economics at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies, Tokyo. He was the Director of Capacity Building and Training of ADB Institute from 2011-2014. He also had positions at the National University of Singapore, the Bank of Finland, and the World Institute for Development Economics Research. He provided consulting services to the IMF, ADB, and JICA.Prof. Xing obtained his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the USA, and M.A and B.A. from Peking University, China. His research focuses on trade, exchange rates, FDI, and global value chains. His analysis on the iPhone and the Sino-US trade imbalance has instigated a reform of trade statistics. His book "Decoding China s export miracle: a global value chain analysis " offers a GVC-based theory on China s success of being the global champion of exports and the No.1 exporting nation of hi-tech products.
