€-coin continues to decline in February
Thursday, February 28, 2019
- In February €-coin fell again (to 0.24 from 0.31 in January), returning to the levels recorded in early 2015.
- The main contributory factors were the decline in business confidence, primarily reflecting the weakness of the manufacturing sector, and the slowdown in foreign sales.
- The €-coin indicator developed by the Bank of Italy provides a summary index of the current economic situation in the euro area. The indicator is an estimate of quarterly GDP growth shorn of the most erratic components (seasonal variations, measurement errors and short-run volatility). €-coin is published monthly by the Bank of Italy and CEPR.
- Next €-coin release dates: Friday, 29 March 2019 and Tuesday, 30 April 2019 (provisional).
