€-coin is essentially stable in December
Saturday, December 21, 2019
- The €-coin indicator remained at nearly the same level in December as in November (up from 0.15 to 0.16), continuing to point to modest growth in the euro area, as it has since the start of 2019.
- The indicator benefited from the good stock market performance, which more than made up for the persistent pessimism of firms in the manufacturing sector.
- The €-coin indicator developed by the Bank of Italy provides a summary index of the current economic situation in the euro area. The indicator is an estimate of quarterly GDP growth shorn of the most erratic components (seasonal variations, measurement errors and short-run volatility). €-coin is published monthly by the Bank of Italy and CEPR.
- Next €-coin release dates: Friday, 31 January and Friday, 28 February (provisional).
