€-coin falls slightly in August
Friday, August 30, 2019
- In August €-coin resumed its decline, falling to 0.18 from 0.21 in July, after having recorded a temporary improvement last month.
- The indicator continues to be adversely affected by the slowdown in international trade, the weak industrial cycle and the consequent worsening in business confidence, especially in the manufacturing sector.
- The €-coin indicator developed by the Bank of Italy provides a summary index of the current economic situation in the euro area. The indicator is an estimate of quarterly GDP growth shorn of the most erratic components (seasonal variations, measurement errors and short-run volatility). €-coin is published monthly by the Bank of Italy and CEPR.
- Next €-coin release dates: Friday, 27 September 2019 and Thursday, 31 October (provisional).
