€-coin holds practically stable in April

In the month of April €-coin remained basically unchanged at the marginally negative level registered in March, working out at -0.10%.

The unfavourable assessments that emerged from household and business opinion surveys were offset by the positive contributions from manufacturing and foreign trade.

The €-coin indicator developed by the Bank of Italy provides a summary index of the current economic situation in the euro area. The indicator is an estimate of quarterly GDP growth shorn of the most erratic components (seasonal variations, measurement errors and short-run volatility). €-coin is published monthly by the Bank of Italy and CEPR.

Next €-coin release dates: Friday 31 May and Friday 28 June (provisional).
