Past Events:

The Eighth CEPR/EAERE Webinar on Climate Policy: Fit For 55 - Why do we need a coherent carbon pricing mechanism in Europe? took place on 13 June 2022 from 17:30 - 19:00 CET. The panellists of the roundtable were Jos Marie R. Delbeke (EUI School of Transnational Governance and KU Leuven), Andrea Tilche (NTNU and MIMS) and Adrien Fabre (ETH Zürich). Each panellist summarised its view for 15 minutes. The roundtable and Q&A session with the audience were moderated by Carlo Carraro (Università Ca' Foscari di Venezia and CEPR). A recording of the event is available here

The Seventh CEPR/EAERE Webinar on Climate Policy: Economics of Border Adjustments took place on 21st March 2022 from 17:00 - 19:00 CET. The hyrbid webinar heard from Stefan Ambec (Toulouse School of Economics). His presentation was followed by a roundtable discussion on the EU CBAM proposal with Jean Pisani-Ferry (Sciences Po-Paris and CEPR), Agnès Benassy-Quéré (Paris School of Economics, French Treasury and CEPR), Andrei Marcu  (ERCST) and Luis Garicano (EU Parliament en CEPR). The roundtable and Q&A session with the audience was moderated by Christian Gollier (Toulouse School of Economics and CEPR). A recording of the event is available here

The Sixth CEPR/EAERE Webinar on Climate Policy: AR6 of IPCC - State of Science took place on 26th November 2021. There were two presentation by Friederike Otto (Grantham Institute at Imperial College London) on Extreme Weather Events and Climate Change and Anders Levermann (Postdam Institute for Climate Impact Research) on Sea Level Rise and Climate Change. Their presentations were followed by a discussion by Ottmar Edenhofer (EAERE, Postdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and CEPR) and a Q&A session with the audience. The Fifth CEPR/EAERE Webinar on Climate Policy: The Transition to net zero by 2050 took place on 28th October 17:00 - 18:30 CEST with a presentation from Laura Cozzi (International Energy Agency). Her presentation was followed by a discussion by Carlo Carraro (Ca' Foscari University Venice, CMCC and CEPR). The presentation and discussion were followed by an open Q&A session. A recording of the event is available here

The Fourth CEPR/EAERE Webinar on Climate Policy: Carbon Pricing took place on 30th September from 17:00 - 18:30 CEST. There were three presentations of 20 minutes each by: Maureen Cropper (University of Maryland and Senior fellow, Resources for the Future), Michael Greenstone (University of Chicago and CEPR) and Christian Gollier (Toulouse School of Economics and CEPR).  These presentations were followed by a 30-minute open discussion and Q&A session. The Third CEPR/EAERE Webinar on Climate Policy: The European Green Deal took place on 16th July from 17:00-18:30 CET with a presentation from Stefanie Hiesinger (European Commission). Her presentation was followed by 20-minutes of commentaries & insights by Peter Liese (European Parliament), Artur Runge-Metzger (European Commission) and Ottmar Edenhofer (Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and CEPR). This segment was then followed by a 45-minute moderated discussion and Q&A session led by Brigitte Knopf (Secretary General of the Mercator Research Institute on Global Commons and Climate Change). You can view all the information on this webinar, including Ms. Hiesinger's presentation and the programme here. The Second CEPR/EAERE Webinar on Climate Policy: Pandemic stimulus spending and the fight against climate change took place on 10th June from 17:00 - 18:30 CET with presentations from: Massimo Tavoni (European Institute on Economics and the Environment) and Ioana Petrescu (Harvard Kennedy School). Their presentations were followed by a 20-minute discussion moderated by Andrea Tilche (NTNU, Trondheim) and Danielle Arostegui (EDF) as well as a 15-minute Q&A session. The First CEPR/EAERE Webinar on Climate Policy: Session on the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism took place on 7th May 2021 from 17:00-18:30 CET with speakers Luis Garicano (EU Parliament and CEPR), Carolyn Fischer (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam) and Samuel Kortum (Yale University) discussing the EU Parliament's recently proposed framework for a carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM). You can view all the information on this webinar, including the speakers' presentations and the programme here.
