Friday, July 31, 2020
  • In July €-coin remains negative (-0.50 from -0.37 in June).
  • The indicator continues to be affected by weak industrial production and consumer and business confidence that, although they have been recovering since May, are both still well below pre-epidemic levels.
  • The €-coin indicator developed by the Bank of Italy provides a summary index of the current economic situation in the euro area. The indicator is an estimate of quarterly GDP growth shorn of the most erratic components (seasonal variations, measurement errors and short-run volatility). €-coin is published monthly by the Bank of Italy and CEPR.
  • Next €-coin release dates: Friday, 28 August and Wednesday, 30 September (provisional).
