Monika Merz is a Professor of Economics at the University of Vienna and a CEPR Research Fellow. She was previously on the economics faculty at the University of Bonn (2001-2010). Merz received her Ph.D. in 1994 from Northwestern University and held an appointment as Assistant Professor of Economics at Rice University. Her research primarily focuses on macroeconomic aspects of labor markets. She currently uses structural estimation in order to estimate the predictions from a household model on the time-allocation of couples. She also works on aggregation in heterogeneous labor markets. Recent publications are in the American Economic Review and the Journal of Monetary Economics.
