New eBook: Live Long and Prosper? The economics of ageing populations
Population ageing is the dominant global demographic trend of the 21st century. Never before have such large numbers of people reached old age – conventionally defined as ages 65 and up – and we now expect to add one billion older individuals in just the next 35 years.
A new eBook from CEPR addresses the challenges of ageing populations in terms of both individual and aggregate wellbeing, and highlights the options for countries and individuals to address those challenges. The volume’s editor, Professor David E. Bloom of Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, has brought together the leading experts in the field of economics of ageing to survey what he calls ‘the what, so what, and now what’ of population ageing.
