Ninth Issue - Covid Economics: Vetted and Real-Time Papers

ISSUE 9, 24 April 2020 now published

This is a new online publication to disseminate emerging scholarly work on the Covid-19 epidemic. Very quickly after the onset of the epidemic a large number of policy papers have been written by economic scholars, many of which have appeared on VoxEU. This has been enormously helpful to improve our understanding of policy options. The next step requires more formal investigations, based on explicit theory and/or empirical evidence. This is what Covid Economics: Vetted and Real-Time Papers, the papers in which have been vetted by Editors for quality and relevance, aims to provide.

The title, Covid Economics, Vetted and Real-Time Papers, edited by Charles Wyplosz, has been chosen deliberately: 

• Vetted makes it clear that the refereeing process, while uncompromising, does not involve the usual back-and-forth of standard review processes.
• Real-Time indicates that the time between submission and publication is very short.
• Papers rather than Journal in order to maximize the acceptance of submissions by regular professional reviews.

The ninth issue is now available; we intend to publish issues of Covid Economics online as soon as a sufficient number of papers are accepted (three to five), and thus the frequency of publication will be determined endogenously. We expect the next issue to appear within 2-3 days.
