This is a new online publication to disseminate emerging scholarly work on the Covid-19 epidemic. Very quickly after the onset of the epidemic a large number of policy papers have been written by economic scholars, many of which have appeared on VoxEU. This has been enormously helpful to improve our understanding of policy options. The next step requires more formal investigations, based on explicit theory and/or empirical evidence. This is what Covid Economics: Vetted and Real-Time Papers, the papers in which have been vetted by Editors for quality and relevance, aims to provide. The title, Covid Economics, Vetted and Real-Time Papers, edited by Charles Wyplosz, has been chosen deliberately:
The ninth issue is now available; we intend to publish issues of Covid Economics online as soon as a sufficient number of papers are accepted (three to five), and thus the frequency of publication will be determined endogenously. We expect the next issue to appear within 2-3 days. |
