Sir Charlie Bean is appointed Chairman of the CEPR Board of Trustees; Vittorio Grilli to be Vice-Chairman
The Centre for Economic Policy Research is pleased to announce Sir Charlie Bean has been appointed Chair of its Board of Trustees. Sir Charlie has been a CEPR Research Fellow since the Centre was founded in 1983, and a Trustee since September 2014. He is a Professor at the London School of Economics and has taught at Stanford University. Sir Charlie was also a founding editor of Economic Policy. He has long been engaged in public service roles, which include serving as a consultant to HM Treasury, and special adviser to the Treasury Committee of the House of Commons. Between 2008 and 2014 he was Deputy Governor for Monetary Policy at the Bank of England, having previously been Executive Director and Chief Economist since October 2000.
Vittorio Grilli has been appointed Vice-Chairman. Vittorio is an existing CEPR Trustee and is currently Chairman of the Corporate and Investment Banking Division of JP Morgan’s Europe, Middle East and Africa operations following a stellar career in academia and in the private and public sector, and is a former Minister of Finance in Italy.
Sir Charlie will replace Guillermo de la Dehesa as Chairman of the Board. Guillermo has been associated with CEPR for many years, first as a Trustee, then in 1992 as Vice Chairman, as Co-Chairman in 1999 and Chairman since 2001. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Guillermo for his many years of dedicated service to CEPR, bringing a wealth of experience and overseeing periods of significant change for the Centre. Guillermo will continue as Honorary Chairman of CEPR.
