Keio University will host the 7th International Macroeconomics and Finance conference (IMFC7) on “International Monetary and Financial System: Are we in a new normal?” on 24-25 March 2023 in collaboration with The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), Korea University, University of Tokyo, The Bank of Japan, and Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR). Confirmed keynote speakers are Michael Devereux (University of British Columbia) and Refet Gurkaynak (Bilkent University).

COVID- 19 has tremendously impacted the global economy, but the world is beginning to normalize. At the same time, inflation is soaring due to supply factors as concerns about geopolitical risks rise. Policy responses to this have led to sharp fluctuations in exchange rates. Furthermore, from a longer- term perspective, there are also concerns about the impact of environmental issues on the stability of international financial system. Will the post- COVID- 19 world revert to the world before it? Or will we live in a new normal world? This conference hopes to bring together empirical and theoretical research on new challenges that the international monetary and financial system is currently or will be facing. Possible topics include, but are not limited to:

- International monetary and financial system after pandemic
- Geopolitical risks
- Stability of the financial system under climate change
- High inflation
- Debt crisis and its spillovers
- External imbalances
- Trade and financial linkage
- Policy cooperation
- Exchange rate dynamics
- Trends in international financial transactions
- Inequality in open economies

The conference organizers are grateful for the financial support from JSPS KAKEN HI Grant-in- Aid for Scientific Research (A) Grant Number 18H03638.
