We held a hybrid workshop on complex data which was jointly organised by the IAE (CSIC) and the CEPR RPN on Conflict Prevention.

Complex data, like images or text, are increasingly used in academic research and policy applications. Two key problems in most applications are how to extract specific features from complex data and how to integrate these features into research or the policy process. Methods for both of these aspects are often developed for specific applications and shared within narrow disciplines.

This workshop aimed to bring these experiences together and develop a network of experts working on related problems from different perspectives. The workshop was technical in nature and therefore targeted at practitioners or researchers in fields like economics, political science, data science, computer science or remote sensing to present a specific problem they have solved/are trying to solve.

Organisers: Laura Mayoral (IAE) and Hannes Mueller (IAE and CEPR)

Partners: The workshop will be organised with funding from the CSIC I+Link initiative and the Banco de España research agreement on political risk.
