Hosted by the Bank of England on 22 September 2025
The Bank of England and the Euro Area Business Cycle Network are organizing a one-day workshop on the use of heterogeneous agent models in central banking. In particular, the focus will be on how, if at all, explicitly modeling heterogeneity can assist central bankers in pursuing their core mandates related to macroeconomic aggregates and financial stability. The conference explicitly focuses on the use of heterogeneous agent models in the analysis of aggregates, rather than distributions.
The organisers welcome submissions of completed papers on theoretical and empirical aspects of the question. Applications using euro area, UK, and other European data are particularly encouraged.
The keynote speaker will be Adrien Auclert (Stanford).
The deadline for submissions is 15 April 2025. For coauthored papers, submitting authors should plan to present the paper at the workshop. Authors will be informed of the outcome by the end of April. Limited travel and accommodation funding for only academic participants may be available, following CEPR reimbursement guidelines.
Organizers:
Ambrogio Cesa-Bianchi (Bank of England and CEPR)
Refet Gürkaynak (Bilkent University, CEPR, and EABCN)
Alberto Polo (Bank of England)
