After the summer break, we are delighted to be back with the Media Plurality Webinar Series, an initiative by the CEPR Media Plurality Research and Policy Network (RPN). The 5th session was held on Monday, 18 November 2024, at 5 PM (CEST), 4 PM (BST), 11 AM (ET), with Charles Angelucci (MIT Sloan), with the session hosted by our RPN leader Julia Cagé (Sciences Po).

In this session, we delved into the complexities of media influence during election periods, guided by Charles Angelucci's latest work. His research sheds light on how electoral contexts can magnify partisan biases, leading to parallel realities shaped by media consumption. This discussion provided insights into the mechanisms of news discernment and its broader implications for media plurality and democratic integrity. With the U.S. election results arriving just days before the event, this was an opportunity to explore these important topics together.
