Conference

Globalisation, Strategic Autonomy and Economic Resilience in Times of Crisis

This Event is no longer receiving submissions.

Date and Location:
Paris, 16-17 May 2022
We plan to hold the conference in person, but will adjust depending on the health situation. Presenters should plan to travel to Paris.

Background and Objective:
Banque de France, CEPR, University of Surrey and the World Bank jointly organise a workshop to explore current developments in international trade and cross-border economic activity.  Disruption in trade and global value chains, supply bottlenecks, Covid-related uncertainty and climate tensions are all factors affecting prices and economic activity worldwide, driving a rethinking of the location of production and the way firms organise value chains across borders. We invite submissions of empirical and theoretical contributions that analyse the above and related topics with an emphasis on a policy perspective. The workshop will also include a Policy Round Table moderated by Agnès Bénassy-Quéré (French Treasury). It takes place at the World Bank’s Paris Office on two half-days, 16-17 May 2022.

Keynote speakers:
Sebnem Kalemli-Ozcan (University of Maryland and CEPR) and Pol Antràs (Harvard University and CEPR).

Secretariat of the conference: Giulia Ursula Jonetzko ([email protected]), Mandy Chan ([email protected]), and Anna Goodman ([email protected]).
