Call for Papers
The Macro and Micro of Digital Coins and Markets
19-20 May 2022, Online Format
Paper Submission Deadline: Sunday March 6th, 2022
Rapid innovation in public and private blockchains is relentlessly pushing the boundaries of traditional payments markets. Digital transformation of the broader financial industry requires not only new technical solutions but also updated regulatory practices and business models.
CBDCs are an open area of investigation with substantial potential in many segments of the economy. How will monetary policy frameworks and implementation evolve in a CBDC economy? Will investment in digital private assets bring about new sources of financial stability risks? Will complementary technologies such as Artificial Intelligence alter supervision, payments, asset issuance and management?
The 7th annual research conference jointly organized by the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) and the Euro Area Business Cycle Network (EABCN) will focus on the emerging challenges of public and private competition in payments and decentralized finance along with their legal and regulatory challenges.
The two-day event will feature keynotes, policy panels and presentations of research papers in a blended on-line/on-site format.
Confirmed keynote speakers are Prof. Markus Brunnermeier (Princeton University) and Tommaso Mancini-Griffoli (International Monetary Fund).
The organizing committee invites submissions in the following areas (non-exhaustive)
- Monetary Policy effectiveness with public private currency competition
- Trade, FX volatility with cross-border CBDC
