The thirteenth annual Conference on Urban and Regional Economics (CURE) will take place in Madrid on 1-2 December 2021, held in collaboration with CEMFI, IEB and the Horizon 2020 ERC Advanced Grant DYNURBAN. The goal of the conference is to bring together researchers working at the frontiers on topics in urban and regional economics from around the world to present, discuss and participate in the workshop.
You are invited to submit a paper dealing with urban and regional topics; both theoretical and empirical papers are welcome. Please also reply if you are interested in discussing a paper.
The organisers expect CURE 2021 to take place physically in Madrid. Spain has the largest COVID-19 vaccine coverage of all large countries worldwide (close to 90% of those aged 12 and older are fully vaccinated). Biweekly cases have fallen to about 500 per million people (an order of magnitude below current prevalence in the United States). Nevertheless, due to lingering COVID-related restrictions, CURE 2021 will necessarily have a smaller-than-usual number of participants on site.
The workshop will feature eight papers, with presenters and discussants (two per paper) expected to be physically present at the conference venue. Other participants will be able to connect remotely. The conference will run from 15:00 to 20:00 CET on Wednesday 1 December and Thursday 2 December to accommodate online participants.
The local organisers will offer some funding for accommodation, but cannot guarantee funding for all participants. If you have alternative research funding at your disposal, we encourage you to indicate this on your reply form. This will help fund accommodation for participants who do not have other sources of funding, young researchers in particular.
