Competition Policy RPN Members' Disclosures

General disclosures for the members of the Competition Policy RPN are as follows

Within the last three years, Tommaso Valletti has consulted for the UK Competition and Market Authority.

Within the last three years, Cristina Caffarra has provided advice to the following clients on matters related to those covered by the RPN: Amazon, Apple, Liberty Global, Microsoft, Nexi, Uber, Virgin Media. 

Within the last three years, Gregory S. Crawford has consulted for Amazon, Apple, Discovery, Liberty Global, and a U.S. Regional Sports Network on matters related to those covered by the RPN and for Virgin Media and Zalando on matters unrelated to those covered by the RPN. Since September 2022, he has been employed by Zalando as their Chief Economist.  While these duties occasionally include advising them on competition and regulatory matters related to those covered by the RPN, the vast majority of his duties are unrelated to the issues covered by the RPN. 

Within the last three years, Tomaso Duso has consulted for the European Commission, the UK Competition and Market Authority, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development on matters related to those covered by the RPN. He has also received research and institutional support from the Leibniz Association and the Thyssen Foundation on matters related to those covered by the RPN.

Within the last three years, Monika Schnitzer has had no engagements or affiliations to disclose pursuant to the CEPR Competition Policy RPN’s disclosure policy.

Within the past three years, Luis Cabral has been retained as an expert witness for the plaintiffs in DeMartini et al vs Microsoft (US Case No. 3:22-cv-08991-JSC) as well as an expert witness for the plaintiffs in re Broiler Chicken Antitrust Litigation  (US Case No. 1:16-cv-08637). He has also consulted with SIBS, owner of the largest interbank network in Portugal.

Within the last three years, Emilio Calvano has received research support from University UCLouvain through a digital chair sponsored by Google.

Within the last three years, Giacomo Calzolari has no engagements or affiliations to disclose pursuant to the CEPR Competition Policy RPN’s disclosure policy.

Within the last three years, Jan De Loecker has had no engagements or affiliations to disclose pursuant to the CEPR Competition Policy RPN’s disclosure policy.

Within the last three years, Francesco Decarolis has consulted for FCA Group (now Stellantis) and the Milan Court of Justice on matters related to those covered by the RPN and for the Italian Presidency of the Council of Ministers on matters unrelated to those covered by the RPN.

Within the last three years, Florian Ederer has consulted for the Federal Trade Commission.

Within the last three years, Federico Etro has consulted on matters related to the RPN for Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, Broadcom, Refinitiv, Roark, Newscorp, Sky, Multichoice, Sony and has been involved in high profile antitrust cases concerning digital platforms such as Google, Amazon, Apple and Microsoft. He is a member of the Supervisory Board of Italgas Reti.

Within the last three years, Rosa Ferrer has received research funds from the Spanish Ministry of Science, awarded on a competitive basis in open calls. She has no other engagements or affiliations to disclose pursuant to the CEPR Competition Policy RPN’s disclosure policy.

Within the last three years, Amelia Fletcher has been a Non-Executive Member on the board of the UK Competition and Markets Authority, the UK Financial Conduct Authority and the UK Payment Systems Regulator, and a member of the Enforcement Decision Panel at the UK energy regulator, Ofgem. She has received research funding from the Tobin Center at Yale, which is part-funded by The Omidyar Network. She is a Research Fellow at CERRE and has done consultancy work on policy and cases for non-UK competition authorities.  The Centre for Competition Policy at UEA receives sponsorship funding from Clifford Chance.  

Within the last three years, Chiara Fumagalli has consulted for Volvo Group on matters related to those covered by the RPN.

Within the last three years, Joshua Gans has consulted for Xiaomi, Amazon, AT&T, Attorney General (Texas), ComicMix, USDOJ and the ACCC. He is a senior consultant with Charles River Associates and has worked with The Brattle Group and Keystone Strategy. 

Within the last three years—in collaboration with E.CA Economics—Paul Heidus engaged in competition and consumer protection consulting for the Competition and Markets Authority of the UK as well as in the context of trucking, banking, elevator, and timber industries. He is consulting for E.CA economics on work done by E.CA for Apple in the context of a competition case.

Within the last three years, James Hodge has no engagements or affiliations to disclose pursuant to the CEPR Competition Policy RPN’s disclosure policy.

Within the last three years, Nathan H. Miller consulted on matters related to those covered by the RPN for the Canadian Competition Bureau, the Federal Trade Commission, one or more additional antitrust authorities, Nike, and other private companies. He testified on behalf of the US Department of Justice in a case involving the airlines industry. He also has received research support from the National Science Foundation and the Washington Center for Equitable Growth.

Within the last three years, Massimo Motta has been consulting for the Portuguese, Chilean, Austrian, South African and Mexican competition agencies, the European Commission, and for UK's Ofcom. He has obtained research funds from different Spanish ministries and from the BBVA Foundation. These funds have been awarded on a competitive basis in open calls.

Within the last three years, Volker Nocke has no engagements or affiliations to disclose pursuant to the CEPR Competition Policy RPN’s disclosure policy.

Within the last three years, Martin Peitz has been consulting for ACCC, CERRE, COFECE, and the European Commission on matters related to those covered by the RPN. He has also received research and institutional support from the German Research Foundation (CRC TR 224) on matters related to those covered by the RPN.  

Within the last three years, Patrick Rey has consulted for Yamaha, a biotech company, a telecom operator, two manufacturers of electronic components, and Booking.com on matters related to those covered by the RPN. He has also received research and institutional support from the European Research Council and from the Foundation Jean-Jacques Laffont – TSE on matters related to those covered by the RPN.

Within the last three years, Henri Piffaut has been and remains a Vice President of the French Competition Authority and an official of the European Commission.

Within the last three years, Mar Reguant has no engagements or affiliations to disclose pursuant to the CEPR Competition Policy RPN’s disclosure policy.

Within the last three years, Ana Sofia Rodrigues is Executive Board member/Commissioner at the Portuguese Competition Authority (AdC) since April 2023. Prior to that, she has been the Chief Economist and Director of the Studies and Market Monitoring Bureau of the AdC.

Within the last three years, Nancy Rose has advised the US Department of Justice Antitrust Division. 

Within the last three years, Rod Sims left the role of Chair, ACCC, in March 2022. He currently has continuing roles as an Expert Advisor to the Australian Treasury on competition issues, to the Australian Department of Home Affairs on Democratic Resilience, and to the CMA on issues relating to their coming SMS regime.

Within the last three years, Fiona Scott Morton has consulted for Amazon and Microsoft on matters related to the RPN, for various other corporations, primarily in the healthcare space, on unrelated matters, and for government plaintiffs.

Within the last three years, Steve Tadelis has consulted for Amazon, Google, Uber and Facebook on matters related to those covered by the RPN, and is an affiliate with Analysis Group. He has also consulted with several start-up companies on matters not covered by the RPN.

Within the last three years, Otto Toivanen has consulted for Kesko Corporation, the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority, the Norwegian Competition Authority, Sanoma Corporation, Caverion Ltd and O’Learys Trademark AB on matters related to those covered by the RPN. He has also received research support from the Academy of Finland, The Social Insurance Institution of Finland, Yrjö Jahnsson Foundation and the Finnish Government’s analysis, assessment and research activities on matters related and unrelated to those covered by the RPN.

Within the last three years, Hannes Ullrich has advised the French Competition Authority as an external expert for Alcis Advisers on matters related to those covered by the RPN. He has received research and institutional support from the Leibniz Association and the European Research Council on matters related to those covered by the RPN. 

Within the last three years, Thibaud Vergé has consulted for companies active in the online distribution of train tickets, Johnson & Johnson and Slack on matters related to those covered by the RPN. He is currently Vice-President of the Autorité de la concurrence and a member of the European Commission’s Economic Advisory Group for Competition Policy. He has also received research support from the French Research Agency on matters related to those covered by the RPN. 

Within the last three years, Martin Watzinger has no engagements or affiliations to disclose pursuant to the CEPR Competition Policy RPN’s disclosure policy.

Within the last three years, Graeme Woodbridge was Chief Economist at the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission. He left that position in September 2022.
