A Dataset for "The Ends of 30 Big Depressions" by Ellison, Lee and O'Rourke

This is the version of the dataset used for the paper. A more raw form of the dataset, which includes many additional variables, is available upon request. This also includes data for countries we do not study in the paper.

The folder for each country contains two excel documents. 

1. The file that starts with "Spec_" is the model specification for the dynamic factor model and provides all pertinent information including series names and units. This information is also available in Appendix A of the paper.
2. The file that starts with "cleaneddata" contains the data. This should be used together with the other file for series names and other information.
