Regionalism

The Centre's sixth joint conference with the National Bureau for Economic Research and the Tokyo Center for Economic Research, on `Regionalism' took place in Tokyo on 8/9 January. The conference was organized by Richard Baldwin, Professor of International Economics at the Graduate Institute of International Studies, Geneva, and Co-Director of CEPR's International Trade programme, Shinichi Fukuda, Professor of Economics at Hitotsubashi University, and Takatoshi Ito and Kazuo Ueda, Professors of Economics at the University of Tokyo. Financial support from the Ford Foundation is gratefully acknowledged, as part of its support for CEPR's research programme on `Market Integration, Regionalism and the Global Economy'. The following papers were presented:

`Dynamic Adjustment to Regional Integration: EUROPE 1992 and NAFTA', Warwick McKibbin (Australian National University)

`On the Choice of Invoice Currency by Japanese Exporters: The PTM Approach', Shinichi Fukuda (Hitotsubashi University and TCER) and Ji Cong (Keio University)

These papers will appear in a Special Conference Issue of the Journal of Japanese and International Economies in December 1994.
